About DR Show Horses...
30 years ago, a young Californian saw her destiny in the eye of a Poco Bueno pleasure mare—something stuck.
After attending Oxnard College in 1987, Devon initially founded DR Show Horses in Thousand Oaks, CA., moving to Temecula in 1997 and finally packing up her dreams and trailer full of horses and relocating to Smithville, Texas in 2002. Though a native Californian, Devon came from a 6-generation line of Texas roots. Moving to Texas felt like coming home.
Not only did Devon return to her roots in Texas, she found her passion within another as well. There she met her husband, Troy Michalik, and the two have lived a horsemans’ fairytale. Troy, along with Devon, showed their stallion, IR Conclusive at the 2008 APHA World Championship Show and took home Top 5 in the Amateur Halter.
Devon and Troy make their home in the beautiful pine trees of Paige, Texas , visited frequently by their young-adult children. Devon and Troy live on their ranch with a barn and pasture full of horses, while training their own horses, breeding WORLD QUALITY HALTER and WESTERN PLEASURE horses. This amazing husband and wife team prepare young horses and campaign their horses at the San Antonio Stock Show, Houston Livestock Show, AQHA World Championships, APHA World Championships, IBHA Gateway to the World, & the PHBA World Championship Shows.
Most days you’ll find Devon Rose at her Smithville, Texas training facility training pleasure horses, showing & perfecting the balancing act of breeding & raising the ideal halter horse! A captivating horse breeder & private trainer, Devon's favorite saying is HARD WORK BEATS TALENT, WHEN TALENT FAILS HARD TO WORK!

DR's Current & Future Champions!
What people are sayin'!
Kudo's for DR!Hello Devon,
My name is Kelly Manley and I live in Golden, Colorado. In April of 2010 my family visited friends in Smithville, Texas and we brought our daughter, Zoe, to you for a one time training session. She still remembers it and talks about it as one of her BEST experiences ever. She is looking at her summer plans and was wondering if you have any camps coming up. We are a homeschooling family, and b/c I know what the heat is like in Texas during the summer, we could come in the fall also. Zoe may be able to recruit one other homeschool friend to come from CO with her if that would make it better for you. We could lodge with my friends in Smithville and come for the day time if that would work. She would love to live on a ranch and experience all of that life. Thank you in advance for writing back. Your schedule looks full and we would be so blessed to fit in somewhere. (She is working mowing lawns this summer to save money for the camp.) Kelly Manley, Golden, CO | Thanks for making it easy and fun!Just wanted to say "thanks" for making it so easy. Making a comeback to showing at this level after almost 15 years off can be very intimidating-especially for a middle-aged Mom like me! Thanks for making it easy and enjoyable. Looking forward to a great ride this year! Kasha Ford, Austin, TX
